campuls editorial team: Let’s look back together at your start in summer 1995 at the then still young Hof University of Applied Sciences and my 30 years of work at our university..
Christine Semm: “As a trained industrial clerk, I began my career at Hof University of Applied Sciences in the summer of 1995. During the time when the young university was being established, it was almost normal to be deployed wherever staff were urgently needed. During this time, I worked in general administration, public relations and also in student administration.
Later, I took over my area of work in building management (which was still called the property department at the time), which I was in charge of until the end of my time there.
My main areas of work there were key management, letting and leasing as well as general administrative activities such as tendering and awarding contracts in the area of building management. Until the introduction of Skype, I also looked after the telephone system at the time in collaboration with colleagues from IT, who covered the technical side of things. Since the introduction of the new digital locking system, I was responsible for setting up all access authorizations in the building.
In over 30 years of working at the university, I appreciated the versatility of my field of work and the contact with students who came to Building Management with a wide variety of concerns and was always proud to be “part of the team”.”
Many thanks for the insights! We wish you all the best for this new chapter in your life!
