New at Hof University – welcome to Bavaria at the top!

As of the winter semester 2020/2021, the following lecturers have started their new tasks at Hof University of Applied Sciences

Prof. Dr. Christian Groth

Prof. Dr. Christian Groth, a native of Tirschenreuth, has taken over the teaching area “Applied Artificial Intelligence” at the Faculty of Computer Science as of September 2020

From 2004 to 2010, he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degree in applied computer science in Bayreuth with a focus on robotics and embedded systems and worked as a research assistant for more than five years. Already in 2010 he started his PhD at the Chair of Robotics and Embedded Systems. He conducted research in the field of artificial intelligence and learning systems. “Very specifically, it was about how to teach robots different tasks by example and how they can apply this knowledge to new situations,” says Prof. Dr. Christian Groh

In 2015, he completed his doctorate and began working as a driver assistance systems specialist at Hamm AG. In 2016, he became project manager there for the development of various intelligent and networked systems before being appointed deputy department head of electronics and software development in 2019.

Prof. Dr. Heike Markus

Prof. Dr. Heike Markus is a professor of Digital Administration with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and has taken over as course director in the Master Digital Transformation program at Hof University of Applied Sciences.

She has several years of experience in strategy development and long-term planning at Munich Airport. Here she used predictive analytics and simulation models to use data to predict the impact of strategic decisions on the overall company. She has many years of experience in global industrial companies with a focus on integrated planning and control, supply chain management and advanced analytics. She completed her studies in business informatics at Hof University of Applied Sciences and her doctorate at the University of Bayreuth.

Prof. Günter Müller-Czygan

Prof. Günter Müller-Czygan took over an endowed professorship on the topic of water infrastructure at the Faculty of Engineering on October 01, 2020

He will take over lectures in the planned international master’s program “Sustainable Water – Management” and in the bachelor’s program “Environmental Engineering” as well as the management of the research group “Water Infrastructure and Digitalization”, which is located at the Institute for Water and Energy Management at Hof University of Applied Sciences (iwe).

The Sauerland native holds a degree in civil engineering and also a master’s degree in business psychology. He has more than 25 years of experience in the water industry and has been a lecturer at the FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management in Münster in the topics of organizational transformation, Big Data and communication since 2019. In the 1990s, he himself managed a landfill wastewater treatment plant and was deputy operations manager of a household waste landfill, among other positions. From 2017 to 2019, he was also chairman of the German association KOMMUNAL 4.0 e.V. and played a very significant role in digitalization in the water sector.

His research focuses include innovative plant controls, user acceptance, the integration of new knowledge into everyday work, and the use of operational knowledge for digital solutions.
