With the help of the Hof University of Applied Sciences’ sponsoring organization, the student initiative HofSpannung Motorsport e.V. was able to take part in the international e-racing series “Formula Student” again this year. Every two years, the initiative of students from various disciplines builds and improves completely self-designed e-racing cars in order to compete internationally with other colleges and universities and demonstrate their own design skills. The Society of Friends and Sponsors of the university has now supported the initiative with a generous donation of EUR 4000.
In the second half of 2024, the HofSpannung team took part in two racing events with their current racing car “Artemis”: from 19.8. to 25.8. over 28 students represented Hof University of Applied Sciences in Croatia. Two weeks later, from 4.9. to 8.9., another 20 students traveled to the event in Italy. The initiative always competes with teams from other colleges and universities in various disciplines. It has grown over the years and now has over 100 club members from various faculties.
“What the students achieve here in their free time is enormous and very impressive in every way. It is impressive to see how they are constantly improving the electric cars and increasing their performance. The students are gaining knowledge and experience that will be very valuable later in industry and business. We would very much like to support this commitment.”
Andreas Pöhlmann, Chairman of the Society of Friends and Sponsors of Hof University of Applied Sciences e.V.
Niklas Moser, board member of HofSpannung Motorsport e.V. explains:
‘The racing events we take part in take place all over Europe. Due to our ever-growing team and rising energy costs, the transportation of our workshop equipment, our racing car and of course our team is by far the biggest expense of our initiative. Without the donation from the sponsoring company, we would not have been able to take part in the events; this allowed our team to fully focus on our race car.”

And it paid off: the team finished the event in Italy with the best score in the club’s history.
