More and more research institutions and universities are deciding to introduce and use a research information system (RIS) in order to improve their strategic information and reporting capabilities as well as their public image. Hof University of Applied Sciences has also had a research information system since 2024, namely “Bay.Fis”.

An overview is now available to provide a broader overview of all universities that have and use this type of system.
The KFiD office would like to draw attention to the publication of the FIS map, which has recently been made permanently available to the public on the KFiD website. The FIS map provides an overview of the institutional FIS planned and used at German research institutions in the form of an interactive, digital and permanent information and data service (as of 24.03.25).
It includes a map showing the geographical distribution and various aggregated usage statistics. It is possible to register an FIS at any time here…
Why such a map?
Up-to-date and freely accessible information on a university’s research projects is a must in the age of transfer and third mission. In the course of the professionalization of research management, this information is technically provided with an FIS – not via various Excel lists. The map is used for mutual networking and helps to monitor digitalization dynamics in research reporting and evaluation.
