After last year’s award for Friederike Oehler for her work in the “Digital Storytelling” seminar, professors Norbert Diedrich, Claudia Muth and Michael Zöllner are delighted to announce that this year the university has four winners of the Annual Multimedia Digital Talents Award 2025. Out of a total of 17 award-winning student projects, four prizes went to Hof University of Applied Sciences – a great success for the Bachelor’s degree course in Communication Design (KD) at the Münchberg campus.
The award for four projects underlines our orientation as a future-oriented communication design course and the excellence of teaching at Hof University of Applied Sciences.”
Prof. Norbert Diedrich
The independent Annual Multimedia Award is one of the most important and oldest digital competitions in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Since its foundation in 1996, it has demonstrated and supported the vitality of digital brand communication. The competition documents the “state of the art”, highlights digital trends and illustrates the digital creative year. Since the Annual Multimedia 1998, there has also been the AM Digital Talents Award, which gives young creatives the opportunity to present their project, bachelor’s or master’s theses and their skills. The AM Digital Talents Award is one of the most important awards for young digital talents.
For our students, but also for applicants and their parents, the Digital Talents Awards confirm the future viability of a course of study in which we use the latest technologies, digital media and artificial intelligence to train students for a changing world of work in design.”
Prof. Michael Zöllner
The work submitted by the students from the Bachelor of Communication Design covers a very broad spectrum, from their first independent major project work during their studies (3rd semester), to projects from the 6th semester – after the students have already gained practical experience in agencies or companies – to a Bachelor’s thesis. All of the project work submitted by Hof University of Applied Sciences received awards!
The winners of the AM Digital Talents Award 2025 at Hof University of Applied Sciences and their projects
Giuliana Fuchs, 3rd semester KD, project: An interactive first aid kit
(Digital special formats category)
Giuliana Fuchs’ project focuses on the interactive communication of the functions of a first aid kit. Visually appealing animations show how each object (gauze bandage, warming blanket, etc.) can be used in an emergency. The aim is to deepen knowledge of the elements and illustrate their practical application in emergency situations. The project offers an informative and interactive experience that enables people to react appropriately in an emergency and use first aid equipment effectively. The animations make the application easy to understand and accessible.

Miriam Saile, 6th semester KD, Project: Europa Report
(Website & Microsite category)
The topic of the 2023 summer semester in the Digital Storytelling / UX Design seminar was “Europe – Future Perspectives?”. The task was for designers to develop a concept or project that can contribute to a common, positive future through the use of digital media. Miriam Saile’s project “Europa Report” was created in this context.
As Europeans, we are part of a community with common problems, crises, but also progress, opportunities and a common future. Nevertheless, EU skepticism is becoming increasingly present and palpable in many countries. “Europa Report”, on the other hand, allows us to take a break from the fast pace of the media and relive important European topics of recent years in a retrospective. The aim of the project is to arouse interest, to reflect and to strengthen European awareness. Europa Report” website.

Kim Haselhoff, 6th semester KD, Project: Mobility Score
(Category Digital Services: Apps, Tools, Voice User Interfaces etc.)
Also in the seminar “Europe – Perspective Future?” in the summer semester 2023, Kim Haselhoff from the 6th semester developed her project “Mobility Score”, which she successfully submitted to the AM Digital Talents Award 2025.
What if all our mobility was tracked? With the Mobility Scoring app, you can register or book journeys across Europe using different modes of transport. With regard to sustainability and environmental friendliness, these journeys are rated with positive or negative points and collected in an account. Insights, statistics and reviews can be obtained for this points account. Positive points act as a financial advantage, negative points as a disadvantage on an “environmental tax”. This offers users incentives to use more environmentally friendly and public transport in order to reduce CO2 emissions and raise awareness of sustainable mobility. A supplementary website addresses both critical and positive aspects of mobility scoring.

Celina Jahn, Bachelor thesis KD, project: Stepping into History: Uncovering Hidden Narratives (category Digital Services: Apps, Tools, Voice User Interfaces etc.)
As part of her bachelor thesis, Celina Jahn dealt with the so-called Stolpersteine, which commemorate the fate of people throughout Germany who were persecuted, murdered, deported or expelled during the National Socialist era.
The project focuses on the stories behind the stumbling blocks. The application developed by the student enables users to imagine independently and as realistically as possible who the people behind the brass-colored stones were. This project has created an experience that makes it possible to visualize and learn about the personal fates of the people persecuted during the Holocaust in a completely new way. Augmented reality, 3D models created using artificial intelligence and animated portraits make the people approachable and emotionally tangible.
