As part of Girls’ Day 2025, Hof University of Applied Sciences once again offered 37 girls a varied program of career guidance workshops at its locations in Hof and Münchberg. On this day, the schoolgirls had the opportunity to try out their diverse skills.
Girls’ Day is a nationwide joint campaign coordinated by the Competence Center for Technology, Diversity and Equal Opportunities. On this day, companies, universities and research centers throughout Germany open their doors to schoolgirls. On this day, schoolgirls in grades 5-9 can experience how exciting and interesting scientific, technical and technology-related professions are.
In the “Robot Trainer” workshop in Hof, the girls learned how to program a robot and teach it to do things. At the Münchberg campus, for example, the schoolgirls were able to print their own digital photos onto cushions using transfer printing.
In addition to Girls’ Day, the university also held its second Boys’ Day in Münchberg and Kronach on 3 April 2020. Both locations welcomed 17 boys who were able to get a taste of study programs and professions in which men are underrepresented.
In the Communication Design course in Münchberg, the students generated a visual pattern and produced a printed mini-magazine or website together with the group.
At the Kronach campus, where the university offers the “Innovative Healthcare” Bachelor’s degree course, the boys were able to get a taste of the nursing profession, which is dominated by women.
The boys were enthusiastic about our workshop program “Laboratory tour WohnXLab” and “Dive into the world of the smart home…”, which offered exciting insights into the world of sensors and the smart home for people with disabilities and the opportunity to directly experience various limitations in the “WohnXLab”. The boys showed great interest, asked lots of questions and had the urge to learn and try out new things.”
