The 35-year-old comes from Halle an der Saale and studied mechanical engineering with a specialization in textile technology (diploma). He successfully completed his doctorate in 2020 in the field of in-situ coating and drying technology for high-performance scrim structures. In his recently completed habilitation, he dealt with the topic “Technologies for multi-axial load-adapted, high-performance textile structures with a high degree of prefabrication for use in fiber composites”.

Prior to his appointment at the university, Prof. Hahn was head of the research group “Multiaxial warp knitting technology and robotics for composites” at the Institute of Textile Machinery and Textile High Performance Materials Technology at TU Dresden and worked as a freelancer at Tudatex GmbH.

On one of his first visits to the university, the first thing he noticed was the very open-minded and helpful colleagues and he immediately felt welcome.

When asked “What are you particularly looking forward to in your new role?”, Prof. Hahn replies:

I’m looking forward to working with my new colleagues, gaining new impetus for research and implementing this in teaching. But above all, of course, I’m looking forward to exchanging ideas with many inquisitive students!”

Welcome to the university family!
