Inquiry: What is a research map?

As the organizational centers of the science system, the universities that make up the German Rectors' Conference (HRK) carry out the majority of scientific research in Germany. The aim of the research map is to record the diversity of these research activities at universities and make them easily accessible. International Teaching Week 2025: Spotlight on artificial intelligence

From 19 to 23 May 2025, the university was all about international academic collaboration: around 20 guest lecturers from ten countries took part in the International Teaching Week 2025 and designed a diverse teaching and supporting program under the motto "AI Odyssey: Understand, Create, Explore!". Participation in doctoral center: own doctoral theses at Hof University soon possible!

It is a scientific milestone for Hof University of Applied Sciences: from 2026, it is now expected that students will be able to complete their own doctoral theses in some research fields at the educational institution, which was founded in 1994, and obtain the corresponding academic degree. The background to this new right to award doctorates is the university's now confirmed participation in the REDIG (Resource Efficiency and Digitalization) doctoral center at OTH Amberg-Weiden and Ansbach University of Applied Sciences. Ukrainian-German cooperation for sustainable water technologies

Three Ukrainian researchers visited the Institute for Sustainable Water Systems in May as part of the project "German-Ukrainian Strategy for Phosphorus Reduction in the Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant Effluent (DeUS-Phor)". During the visit to Germany, the participants agreed to draw up a project proposal for an exchange for internships and master's courses and to submit a joint application to Horizon Europe or Eureka next year. “Cable clutter, lots of order and banging on the table” – International voices from the Hof University team

Around 40 percent of students come from abroad, and the academic and research support staff are also becoming increasingly diverse: employees from around 20 nations now work in administration and research. A guest in Romania: Martin Lochmüller at the International Teaching Week at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj

Hof University of Applied Sciences has been organizing an International Teaching Week (ITW) every two years for over ten years. Lecturers from all over the world come to Hof for this event. The university's more than 130 partner universities also regularly offer similar formats and invite international guest lecturers. In May, Martin Lochmüller took up an offer from Babeș-Bolyai University in Romania and took part in the ITW there. [more]

Young talent competition for design: KD students receive three of the coveted nails at the ADC Talent Award 2025

3 nails in bronze - that is the result of the students from the Bachelor of Communication Design at Hof University of Applied Sciences at the Art Directors Club (ADC) Talent Award 2025, the most important competition for young talent for design universities and design students in Germany.
